Part dance party, part exercise class, Jazzercise is a dance fitness phenomenon. This popular, successful dance fitness program began as jazz dance classes that were redesigned for clients who wanted more of a weight-loss, fitness focus than dancer's training. Today, most Jazzercise classes use a 60-minute total body workout format that incorporates dance with resistance training, Pilates, kickboxing, yoga, and hip-hop. Jazzercise combines dance-based cardio with strength/core training using hand weights, resistance tubes and exercise balls and wraps up with stretching. Choreographed to music ranging from rock, funk, Top 40, country and more, Jazzercise popularity is based on its party-like atmosphere. Founder Judi Sheppard Missett choreographs new routines to the most current music every ten weeks so classes never get old. Instructors offer a range of age-appropriate music however, so have no fear that you'll be working out to your kid's playlist.
